← back to everything I've built

Lines of code were never the measure.

You pasted a repo. It read the git history and scored how hard the work really was, per commit and per author. I built it in December 2025 and retired it in October 2026.

What it was

A counter to lines-of-code vanity

Ten thousand lines can be an afternoon of copy and paste. Three lines can be a week of thinking. The analyser tried to tell those apart by reading what changed, not how much.

Why it stopped

Fun to build, little used

Traffic was very light, a few hundred page loads a month, and mostly bots. It was not worth keeping a server running for.

The useful part was never the tool. It was the question it asked: how hard was that, really? I still ask it about my own work.

What it looked like

A score for every commit

Git Hardwork Analyzer results showing scores per commit and per author
The front door. Paste a repo, pick a mode, and every commit and author got a score for how hard the work really was.

Curious how hard your own work is?
